As the sun continues its rampage on the UK, it couldn't be a better time to get into a dark air conditioned room and enjoy some movies, and this week it's a big one. After a 7 year wait, Toy Story is back in cinemas for its fifth instalment. We join Jesse, Buzz, Woody and the gang as they tackle the biggest threat to toys yet... Technology.
For the retro we review Toy Story 4 and ask the question, is it really as bad as people said when it first released?
Plus, it's a Pixar related round of the Splice Guys Championship.

The World Cup is on, the sun is shining and a Stephen Spielberg movie is back in the cinema. What a time to be alive.
That's right, the best living director is back and he's returning to the genre he's so known for. "Disclosure Day" explores the idea of revealing to the world that there is life on other planets.
For our retro review we go back to the start of his alien adventure, as we review "close encounters of the third kind". Also... what is the best science fiction movie in Spielberg's filmography?

It's a bit of different episode this week. A few days ago, we jumped online to record the episode as usual, however there were major audio issues that made it un-usable. However, we didn't want to leave you all for a week, so I share my thoughts on both Scary Movie and Scary Movie 6, plus give you Luis' rating on the Splice Guys scale. Then Liam gives his rundown of all 6 in the franchise, as he goes above and beyond the call of duty.
We'll be back next week as normal for Disclosure Day and Close Encounters of the third kind.

It's been a cracking year for horror so far, and this week we dive into the latest horror film, which is already a sure fire hit for A24. "Backrooms" has finally arrived after much hype and Liam reviews the adaptation of the YouTube web-series, created by the 20 year old Kane Parsons.
Backrooms explores the ever growing idea of liminal space. So for our retro review, we are going back to 2019, as we review "Vivarium", which has its own take on liminal space.
Plus, we look at some of the best debut films from directors in horror.

For the first time in 7 years, Star Wars hits the big screen, and we couldn't be more excited. After 3 seasons on Disney Plus (and some episodes in 'the book of Boba Fett'), The Mandalorian and his adorable apprentice Grogu, go big, in their first cinematic adventure. We review the jump from TV to cinema, and have a conversation about what we think is next for these characters.
For the retro, the Splice Guys head to a realm they haven't entered before... that's right... TV. We are reviewing all 3 seasons of 'The Mandalorian' and the connecting episodes in 'The Book of Boba Fett'. Plus, it's a Mando themed round in the Splice Guys Championship.

It’s the same old topic of video games on the big screen! But this time, we test our might and choose our most deadly warriors as we fight off an oncoming attack from outworld. ‘Mortal Kombat 2’, what is sure to be the film of the year, has finally hit the big screen and we (or maybe just Tom) can’t wait to talk about it. We go back to 1995 as we retro review ‘Mortal Kombat’ from 1995. Plus we go back to a tried and tested topic… wouldn’t you know it… it’s about video game adaptations!

It's another Biopic centric episode this week. This time we pit "The King of Rock" against "The King of Pop". Michael has just released in cinemas and is our main review. Plus for the retro, we go back and review "Elvis" from 2022. Can these two icons really have their story told with just one movie? Plus it's the summer draft in the fantasy box office league, which has big implications for the Splice Guys Championship.

On this week's episode we review Lee Cronin's take on a Mummy movie. No this isn't the usual adventure hijinks we are used to seeing from the Brendan Fraser films, instead Cronin brings this world back to the realm of horror. Cronin hit it big a few years ago, with 'Evil Dead Rise', but for the retro we'll be doing his first film, 'The Hole in the Ground', which was released in 2019. Plus it's round 4 of the Splice Guys Championship.
