Whether it was captain of the Starship Enterprise or running a very special school for gifted youngsters, his mark on pop culture cannot be denied. Today we start the show with our own tribute to one of the best to ever do it. 
 
For our reviews, we give our thoughts on “Primetime”, starring Robert Pattinson. This explores the ethics and history of the TV show “To Catch A Predator”, and Pattinsons portrayal of Chris Hansen has been talked up for a while. 
 
For our retro review, we check out “Nightcrawler”, another dark and seedy exploration of journalistic ethics with an incredible performance from Jake Gyllenhaal.

Round 1, fight! On today's episode it's the return of a video game adaptation... because we don't talk about these enough on this show. "Street Fighter" is back on the big screen and we are here to ask the question, did they get it right this time?

Aaron Sorkin returns to direct a sequel (kind of?) to one of his most acclaimed movies. However this time he is also in the directors chair, as David Fincher was unable to return. "The Social Reckoning" is a very different story to "The Social Network" though, as this tells the tale of the Facebook files. The story of Frances Haugen, the whistleblower that uncovered disturbing Facebook practices. 
We retro-review, "The Trail of the Chicago 7", another of Sorkin's directed films.

Going into this episode, we discussed nothing about our newest review. We had no idea what the other thought and this could have either turned out to be our most divisive review ever, or the one that brings us all together. The critics aren't sure, but it's time to find out what the Splice Guys think of "Digger". The newest movie by Alejandro G. Inarritu. He teams up with the one, the only, Tom Cruise. They tell the story of Digger Rockwell, an oil magnate who might be humanity's last hope. 
We retro review Inarritu's best picture winning "Birdman (or the unexpected virtue of ignorance)".

On this week's episode we review the newest collaboration from David Ayer and Brad Pitt. This is one called 'Heart of the Beast'. This follows retired special forces command Sergeant Major James Belmont, and his combat dog Odin. They got lost Alaskan wilderness and must try to survive a 58 mile trek with various threats risking their attempt to find their way to safety. 
It also means we get to retro-review 'Fury', which Luis has been trying to get us to do for a long time. Another collab between Ayer and Pitt. 
Plus we have a little debate around the trend of extra footage being put into movies, following the release of 'Avengers Endgame Encore' and reports that Spider-Man might be doing the same.

It's finally here. The second most discussed movie on the show, has finally arrived. We head back to Racoon City for 'Resident Evil', this time brought to us by one of the most talked about directors in the current horror space. What does Zach Cregger have in store for us with his adaptation of one of gamings biggest franchises? 
It also means we can finally force Luis to watch the 2002 version of 'Resident Evil', by Paul W.S Anderson. After years of protests and refusal, did he enjoy it more than he thought?... spoilers... he did not.

This week's episode it's the third Robin Hood movie of the 2000's, but this time it's a very different take. Michael Sarnoski's take tells a darker tale of the outlaw Robin Hood. He's haunted by his past and hunted by the families of his victims. Isolated and ready for death, he tries to get away from his past life and live his final years at peace. 
For the retro-review we cover Michael Sarnoski's 'Pig'. A career best Nic Cage performance and one that Tom and Liam loved when it first released in 2021.

On this week's episode we review the newest movie by the legendary film maker, Sir Ridley Scott. He's one of the most covered directors on the show so far, and we are very excited to see what he has in store for us. His newest film is 'The Dog Stars', a post apocalyptic world adapted from the novel of the same name by Peter Heller. 
For the retro-review we go back to 2001 and review 'Black Hawk Down'. What he calls an anti-war movie but a pro-military movie. It's been a good while since any of us have seen this, so it will be fun to go back and see whether it still works in 2026. 
Plus it's the Autumn/Fall draft in the fantasy box office league, and Liam has had a nightmare!
